You have to think with Tiffany Ducker, Mercedes Fox-Griffin and Brittany Davis as seniors this was the year the program turned the corner. That hasn’t happened.
The problem in the past was a simple lack of depth. Not enough talent on the floor to compete against top flight programs. Except I got the impression, again, that despite having more talent on the floor a lot of the time against Cal the women just don’t get it done. There is a lot of fear on the floor, people don’t seem to know exactly when they are supposed to take a shot; Stupid turn overs, and a point guard who seems to have lost a step and some motivation.
BDC sat in front of me for the first half. He’s been at a lot of the games this year. He see’s what I see.

Agree on the foundation part. I got in a cyber argument with some guy who says foundations aren’t to be used, just to gain interest. What the heck?

If you have $17 BILLION even in a downturn in the economy, you should use the foundation for times of need.

The government last year asked Harvard and others why they weren’t touching their billions. Harvard finally decided to use theirs and any kid from a family making $60,000 or less and can get into Harvard now goes for free. Families who make $180K or more can send their kids to Harvard for half price … and their foundation is still huge.

Stanford dips $5M out of its foundation it still doesn’t take a hit. And I think they should e-mail every single donor to the foundation and ask them if they could take $5M out, have them vote. If they vote yes, take the money out.

Good grief. I have a tough time donating to foundations that don’t use theier money.

The women have already won 11 games. They’ll have a good chance to defeat UCSB, sweep the Washington schools at home, at least split with USC/UCLA/Oregon, and win their first-round tournament game. That would be an 18-win season.

Alexis Gray-Lawson, Devanaei Hampton and Ashley Walker were all high school all-Americans and have each earned all-Pac-10 honors at some point in their careers. Cal had more veteran talent. OSU played much of the game with a sophomore guard, sophomore forward, freshman guard and freshman forward.

I also saw BDC at the game. I can’t speak for himn, obviously, but I believe he’s firmly in LaVonda’s camp and knows how much progress has been made in all aspects of the program.

I hope BDC is in Coach Wagner’s camp.

Seems like last year we played with seven or eight players total. The program has come a long long way in a short time.
